Currently all our positions are full and there is a waiting list for this volunteer opportunity! Contact Ranger Stacey Bishop.

Mothers Garden Volunteers - volunteers may 'adopt a bed' and maintain it throughout the growing season. Volunteers are also needed for general garden area care like raking and path repair. Some experience is helpful, but don't hesitate to inquire if you'd like to learn. See Ranger Nolley Fisher.
Flower Bed Maintenance - we have several isolated flower beds around our buildings and scattered throughout the park which are maintained by volunteers. If you would like to 'adopt a flower bed' and take care of it throughout the growing season see Ranger Ellis
Volunteer coordinator - assist with recruitment, hours tracking and communicating with the park volunteers. See Ranger Ockeem Ellis.
History researcher - There are several areas of park history worthy of further archival research. Experience preferred. Contact Park Superintendent Rick Holt.
Special Event Volunteer - put your name on the list to be contacted for assistance with special events such as concerts, craft fairs, car shows, etc. At most events the Friends maintain a table for gift shop sales and to provide a point of contact for Friends of Downs Park information and donations. Special events also often require some general 'go-fer' volunteers, parking assistance, set up help, clean up help and more. Contact Ranger Ockeem Ellis to be sure your member info indicates your interest in this type volunteer opportunity. We'll call when we need help!
Craft Fair Coordinator - we would like to revive the annual craft fairs and we require a well organized, committed person to coordinate vendor registration and preparations for the event. Contact Ranger Stacey Bishop if interested.
Board Members Needed - Attend our monthly meetings and participate in the business of running our non-profit group supporting park activities like our concert series, special events and adopt-an-owl program. We currently have openings for Vice President, co-Treasurer (cahier) and several Directors. You can also participate as a member-at-large without holding an office. Please join us! |
